The conditions were ripe for StuSta’s national league team to face SC1880 Frankfurt’s second guard. This prestigious, entertaining game saw StuSta prevail over their opponents with a scoreline of 31:29 at the final whistle.
It only took a few minutes for StuSta munich to score the first try of the match against the young Frankfurt troupe. The subsequent conversion topped-off an ideal start to a game against a team which was previously considered to be very strong, however their response was not long in coming; after an error put the ball in Frankfurt’s hands within StuSta’s “22″, the attackers formed a maul and managed to edge over the try line. After a failed conversion, StuSta led 7:5.
Those who thought Frankfurt would get the upper hand were to be disappointed; StuSta munich put on the fireworks, burning through to half-time and laying down three more tries in the process, two of which were converted. During this phase, the heavily-defeated guests only managed one more try with a quick scrum-half exploiting a distraction in the StuSta munich defence to sprint some 50 yards to the line.

The second half gave the young and conditioned Frankfurters some extra wind with which they were able to lay down an unconverted try through a good solo performance. StuSta munich retaliated with another try – also without conversion – to push the lead back to 31:15, but soon their lack of fitness was beginning to show through and injury substitutions were taking their toll. This helped to balance-out the match; Frankfurt, however, leveraged its advantages to come up with two converted tries – bringing the score to 31:29 – and securing 2 points for themselves on the table in doing so. However, this didn’t impact on StuSta munich, who held on to the lead and won a hard-fought victory.
